The night began with the seventh singles match between John Cena and Brock Lesnar, where “The Beast Incarnate” dominated and achieved victory by a three-count. In addition, a new Women’s World Champion was crowned, Stephanie Vaquer, who defeated Iyo Sky in a featured match. The event also marked the return of former WWE Divas Champion, AJ Lee, after a decade away from the ring. She teamed up with her husband, CM Punk, in a mixed tag team match against the World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins, and his wife, the Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Becky Lynch. The main event featured the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes, who defended his title against Drew McIntyre in a surprisingly short match.Analysis of the Fights
Here’s an analysis of the most important matches of the night, evaluating the narrative, in-ring performance, and overall entertainment.Women’s World Championship: Iyo Sky vs. Stephanie Vaquer
Result: Vaquer defeated Sky by a count of threeRating: B+ This match was an exceptional display by two of WWE’s best female wrestlers. The first half was a game of strategy, with precise counterattacks. Vaquer focused on attacking Sky’s knee, which gave her an advantage at key moments. Sky almost achieved victory with a Spanish Fly, but Vaquer reacted and connected a Spinal Tap to secure the triumph. A must-see match.
Tag Team Match: The Usos vs. The Vision
Result: The Vision defeated The Usos by a three-countRating: C The first part of the match was slow, with the focus on the decisions of the special guest referee, LA Knight. The action improved after a near three count. Both teams used spears, before Jey Uso applied the Uso Splash. Jey suffered an injury, which delayed the match. Breakker applied a spear to both Usos, and Reed finished with a Tsunami for the victory of The Vision. A disjointed finish.
Mixed Tag Team Match: CM Punk and AJ Lee vs. Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch
Result: Punk and Lee defeated Rollins and Lynch by submissionRating: C This type of combat focuses more on entertainment. The first half focused on preventing AJ Lee from entering the ring. After Punk hit Rollins with a GTS, Lee entered the action. There was chaos and unexpected moments, including finisher attempts and Sharpshooters. Lee caught Lynch in her Black Widow for the submission. The duration of the match was a bit excessive, but it was great to see Lee back. The next step could be a challenge from Lee to Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre
Result: Rhodes defeated McIntyre by a count of threeRating: C The main event, surprisingly short, failed to reach its full potential. The story focused on Rhodes’ head injury. McIntyre injured his leg, preventing him from applying his Claymore, and Rhodes took the opportunity to apply the Cross Rhodes and win the match. This match was not what was expected for a main event.
Individual Match: John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar
Result: Lesnar defeated Cena by a three countRating: C- The seventh encounter between Cena and Lesnar was more of a prelude to their next confrontation than a match in itself. Lesnar quickly dominated, applying several F-5s to secure the victory. A short and direct match.
