Stacy Lewis Announces Her Retirement from the LPGA at the End of the Season

American golfer Stacy Lewis, a two-time major champion and former world number one, has announced that the current season will be her last on the LPGA Tour. The 40-year-old athlete made the announcement through a social media post, where she expressed that her body has indicated that it is time to end her career.

“Never in a million years would I have thought this golf journey would continue in 2025, but the time has come to put away the clubs”.

Lewis’s golf career is full of successes. After a distinguished career at the University of Arkansas, Lewis joined the LPGA Tour in 2009, achieving 13 victories. Her titles include the 2011 Kraft Nabisco Championship and the 2013 Women’s British Open, both considered majors. Lewis was named LPGA Tour Player of the Year twice (2012 and 2014) and ranks 14th on the all-time money list, with over $14 million accumulated in 374 events. In addition, she participated in four editions of the Solheim Cup as a player and captained the team that defeated Europe in September 2024.

“I’ve taken care of the LPGA Tour as if it were my own child and I’m very proud of the progress we’ve made, but to my fellow players, we’re not done!”, she wrote. “I hope you all continue to push the tour and do everything you can to help on and off the course.”
