Jaylon Johnson to Reserve List Due to Injury: Impact on the Bears

Chicago Bears star cornerback Jaylon Johnson has been placed on the injured reserve list, which will keep him off the field for at least four games. Johnson, 26, has been dealing with a groin injury that prevented him from participating in training camp, the preseason, and the season opener against Minnesota. Although he returned in Week 2 against Detroit, he had to leave the game in the second quarter after a play. Bears coach Ben Johnson revealed that the player is dealing with an additional injury and that the team is evaluating Jaylon Johnson’s recovery options, who sought second medical opinions during the week. Johnson, despite being eligible to return in Week 8 against Baltimore, is expected to miss a significant amount of time this season.

“Obviously, when you lose a player of that caliber, it’s a big obstacle for your football team,” commented Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen. “So you have to readjust how you operate, the calls you make, and every week will be different.”

The Bears’ secondary will have to face the absence of Johnson and cornerback Kyler Gordon, who is recovering from a hamstring injury. Chicago has conceded the most passing touchdowns in the NFL, with seven in two games. Additionally, second-year offensive lineman Kiran Amegadjie was also placed on the injured reserve list due to an elbow injury.
