The exciting boxing weekend, led by Terence Crawford’s impressive performance against Canelo Álvarez, caused significant movements in the division rankings. Crawford, after a brilliant demonstration, left behind his position at 154 pounds to become the new super middleweight king. The unanimous decision victory over Canelo on Saturday in Las Vegas catapulted Crawford to the top of the 168-pound division, relegating Canelo to second place.

On the fight card, Lester Martínez secured a place in the super middleweight rankings after a split draw against WBC interim champion Christian Mbilli. Despite a close and entertaining fight, Martínez, with great stamina, had to settle for a draw. Mbilli, although he had a good start, faded in the final rounds. Martínez rises to number 6, while Mbilli drops to number 5, despite retaining his interim belt.

In Nagoya, Japan, Naoya Inoue, another outstanding boxer, demonstrated his intelligence by dominating Murodjon Akhmadliev and retaining his undisputed super bantamweight status by unanimous decision. Inoue consolidates his position at the top of the super bantamweights, while Akhmadliev remains in the number 3 spot. In the bantamweight division, Christian Medina secured a technical knockout victory in the fourth round over Yoshiki Takei, winning the WBO world title. Medina, in a stunning performance, imposed his will from the start, sending Takei to the canvas in the first round and finishing the job in the fourth. Medina debuts in the rankings at number 3, while Takei suffers his first professional defeat and falls to number 4. Alofoke Deportes’ boxing rankings by division highlight the best of the sport in each weight category. The rankings will be updated based on recent results and performances. Boxers who announce their change of category will be classified in their new division, if applicable, only after fighting in it. Boxers who hold titles in two divisions may be ranked in both. Boxers who have not competed in the last 12 months, and who do not have a scheduled fight, will be removed from the rankings until they fight again. Any boxer who tests positive for a performance-enhancing substance will also be removed. That boxer will be eligible to re-enter the rankings after their next fight.
