Charley Hull leads the Kroger Queen City Championship after the third round

In an exciting day at the Kroger Queen City Championship, Charley Hull demonstrated her skill by recording an impressive round of 67 strokes, five under par. This performance gave her a one-stroke lead over the world number one, Jeeno Thitikul, after three rounds. Hull, with a focused mindset, achieved birdies on four of the last eight holes, accumulating a total of 16 under par, with a score of 200 at TPC River’s Bend. He attributed his success to a simple mental approach.

I just hit the ball, find it, and hit it again. I think that’s the problem with a lot of golfers: overthinking. It’s just a game. You hit a white ball towards the hole. You make a birdie, a par, or a bogey, and you move on to the next hole.

Thitikul, seeking her second victory of the LPGA Tour season, completed the round with 68 strokes. The Thai golfer already won in May at Liberty National.

I had many birdie opportunities today, but my putter wasn’t up to par.

Hull, with two LPGA victories, including one in 2022, comes to this tournament after a second place in Houston, as part of the Aramco series of the Ladies European Tour.

I’m not thinking about tomorrow. I’m looking forward to eating some fish tacos tonight.

Two strokes behind the leader are two Japanese players who already know what it’s like to win this year: Miyu Yamashita, champion of the Women’s British Open, and rookie Chisato Iwai, both with rounds of 66 strokes. Nelly Korda, world number two and without victories this year, finished with an eagle on the 18th hole, with a round of 68 strokes. She is three strokes behind the leader, along with Yealimi Noh (64), Bianca Pagdanganan (66) and Mary Liu (68).

I played a 5-iron, a little controlled. I tried to hit it a little higher so it wouldn’t roll on the green, and it did.

Chanettee Wannasaen, leader of the second round, had a less favorable day with 75 strokes and is six strokes off the top.
