Liga Centro y Comercio in Motion Advances in the Rubén Pimentel Tournament

Santo Domingo – The Centro and Comercio leagues teams achieved decisive victories in the last day of the XXXV Rubén Pimentel tournament, organized by the Asociación de Softbol del Distrito Nacional (Asadina) in the Junior Superior category. In the first match, Liga Centro defeated Villa Juana-B with a score of 7-3, thanks to a solid offense that connected eight hits. This victory secures them a place in the South Division final, where they will face Adovenprofar-A. Simultaneously, Comercio en Marcha demonstrated its power by knocking out La Puya, securing its place in the North Division final against Los Mellos. Carlos Matos was the winning pitcher for the Central League, while Alberto Núñez took the loss. In the Commerce in Motion match, Jesús Hernández obtained the victory, and Héctor Ramírez was the loser.Emilio Sánchez led the Central League’s offense, standing out with a 2-2 with one RBI. Frank Antigua hit a home run and drove in a run, while Steven Ynoa and Saúl Hernández also contributed with RBIs. By Comercio en Marcha, Francis Jesús was the main figure, batting three hits, including two home runs, with five RBIs. Daniel Espinal also shone with a home run and four RBIs.

Upcoming Matches

The president of Asadina, Apolinar Durán Brito, reported that the winning teams of the last day will face Adovenprofar-A and Los Mellos in the finals of the South and North divisions, respectively. The winners of these finals will compete for the grand Confraternidad Cup 2025 in a best-of-three series.

“It has been an exciting tournament, where each team has had the opportunity to share and compete, where all the teams had ample opportunity to reach the final, due to the innovations to have a greater opportunity to get together as a family”, indicated Durán.
