Alcaraz Recovers ATP Ranking Number 1

Carlos Alcaraz has returned to the top of the world of tennis. The Spanish tennis player officially regained the number 1 position in the ATP ranking this Monday, displacing Jannik Sinner, after his victory in the US Open final.

When you achieve the goals you set at the beginning of the year, it’s incredible.

Alcaraz, after defeating Sinner at Arthur Ashe Stadium with a score of 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, swapped positions with the Italian. Sinner had held the number 1 spot since June 2024, for 65 weeks.

This achievement marks Alcaraz’s return to the top, a position he already held in September 2022, becoming the youngest number 1 in ATP history.

WTA Women’s Ranking Movements

In the women’s field, Amanda Anisimova moved up five positions, reaching her best ranking at number 4, after being a finalist at the US Open. Aryna Sabalenka, for her part, secured her stay at number 1 after reaching the quarterfinals in New York and then being crowned US Open champion for the second consecutive time, defeating Anisimova with a score of 6-3, 7-6 (3). Iga Swiatek remained in second place, followed by Coco Gauff. Jessica Pegula dropped from number 4 to 7. Naomi Osaka, after reaching the semifinals, rose from 24th to 14th.
