Malcolm Brogdon Bolsters the Knicks with a One-Year Contract

Free agent guard Malcolm Brogdon has agreed to a one-year contract with the New York Knicks, according to his agent Sam Permut of Roc Nation.

With this move, the Knicks secure valuable depth in their backcourt game and significant playmaking ability off the bench. Brogdon, who is about to start his tenth season in the NBA, will bring experience and versatility to the team.

Brogdon is expected to have an important role in the rotation of the new coach, Mike Brown.

Brogdon, 32, averaged 12.7 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds in 24 games last season with the Washington Wizards.

Despite a 29% three-point shooting percentage last season, Brogdon shot an impressive 43% from three-point range between 2022-23 and 2023-24, ranking fourth among players with at least 300 attempts during that period.

In his career, Brogdon has been recognized with the Rookie of the Year award in 2016-17 and Sixth Man of the Year in 2022-23. He is one of two players in NBA history to win both awards, along with Mike Miller.

In the last three seasons, Brogdon has played for the Wizards, Portland Trail Blazers, and Boston Celtics. Previously, he split his first six NBA seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers.
