METAIRIE, Louisiana – The New Orleans Saints are preparing to face the San Francisco 49ers next Sunday, but unfortunately, they will have important absences.
Confirmed Departures
Defensive end Chase Young, due to a calf injury, and guard Trevor Penning, plagued by a toe problem, have been ruled out for the game.
This will be the second time both players miss a game due to their respective injuries. Young suffered the injury during a practice last week, and his status is evaluated week-to-week, according to Saints coach Kellen Moore. Penning was injured in the first preseason game.
More Concerns
In addition, Coach Moore reported that safety Julian Blackmon will undergo shoulder surgery and will be placed on the injured reserve list shortly.
Offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga is questionable for the game due to a knee injury that prevented him from playing part of last week’s game. However, he returned to practice on Thursday.
