Carlos Alcaraz Reclaims ATP Ranking Number 1

The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has officially regained the number 1 spot in the ATP ranking. This achievement comes after his victory in the US Open final, where he defeated Jannik Sinner. Alcaraz, after defeating Sinner at Arthur Ashe Stadium, swapped positions with him, who had held the top spot since June 2024.

“When you achieve the goals you set at the beginning of the year, it’s incredible,” Alcaraz declared after winning his second title at Flushing Meadows.

Alcaraz’s triumph at the US Open marked his second title in this tournament and his sixth Grand Slam trophy. Previously, he reached number 1 in September 2022, becoming the youngest tennis player to achieve it in ATP history, at the age of 19. In the ranking, Alexander Zverev remained in the number 3 position, while Novak Djokovic climbed three positions, moving from number 7 to number 4.

Amanda Anisimova rises to number 4 in the WTA ranking

In the women’s field, Amanda Anisimova moved up five positions, reaching her best ranking in the WTA, after finishing as runner-up against Aryna Sabalenka. Sabalenka secured her stay at number 1 after reaching the quarterfinals in New York, and then won her second consecutive US Open title. Anisimova’s outstanding performance, who was also a runner-up at Wimbledon, allowed her to climb the rankings. Iga Swiatek remained at number 2, followed by Coco Gauff. Jessica Pegula dropped from number 4 to number 7. Naomi Osaka, after reaching her first Grand Slam semi-final since the 2021 Australian Open, rose from 24th to 14th place.
