Cadillac F1 denies signing Christian Horner, ex-Red Bull boss

The new Cadillac F1 team has flatly denied reports suggesting it was considering hiring ousted Red Bull team principal Christian Horner to be part of what will be the eleventh team on the Formula 1 grid next season. Horner was abruptly fired after the British Grand Prix last month, with no reason given for his dismissal. The firing ended a 20-year period that included eight F1 drivers’ titles and the recent turmoil that followed the team on and off the track.

Recent reports claimed that Horner was going to join Cadillac, which will debut next season. However, Dan Towriss, CEO of the Cadillac Formula 1 team and TWG Motorsports, said, when announcing his driver lineup with Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez, that he was not going to hire Horner.

There have been no conversations with Christian Horner. There are no plans to do that. I would like to officially deny that rumor.

Horner had been team principal of Red Bull since they entered F1 as a full constructor in 2005. Horner oversaw eight F1 drivers’ titles – four for Sebastian Vettel and four for Max Verstappen – and six constructors’ titles during his time at the team. But McLaren has dominated this season in F1, while Red Bull’s performance has declined, although defending champion Verstappen is still third in the standings and the team is fourth.
