Vince McMahon, Ex-CEO of WWE, Involved in Car Accident

Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon is at the center of controversy following a traffic accident on a Connecticut highway. The incident, which involved his Bentley and two other vehicles, occurred last Thursday morning. McMahon was cited for reckless driving and following another vehicle too closely, according to the state police report. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the accident. Following the incident, he was released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on August 26. The accident took place on the Merritt Parkway, also known as Route 15, in Westport. According to the police report, McMahon, who was driving northbound, rear-ended a BMW and then crashed into a wooden barrier. A vehicle traveling in the southbound lanes hit debris from the accident that flew over the barrier. In the vehicles involved, there were no passengers, and all three drivers were wearing seatbelts. McMahon’s car airbags deployed, while those of the other driver’s BMW did not, according to the report.

Barbara Doran, one of the people involved in the accident, reported that she was driving in the right lane when she was hit by McMahon’s vehicle. The impact caused her car to leave the road.

I was driving in the right lane and, suddenly, boom. I was hit from behind and catapulted forward and you can see the skid marks where I was desperately trying to stay on the road.

Doran, 72, also reported that a state police officer informed him that the other driver was McMahon. After the accident, they both spoke and McMahon expressed his concern and was glad he was okay. It should be remembered that McMahon resigned as WWE CEO in 2022, amid an internal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. He also stepped down as executive chairman of the board of directors of TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company, last year, one day after a former WWE employee filed a lawsuit against him for sexual abuse. McMahon has denied the allegations. The lawsuit is still pending. McMahon acquired the World Wrestling Federation in 1982 and transformed it from a regional wrestling company into a global phenomenon. In addition to running the company with his wife, Linda, who is currently the United States Secretary of Education, he also performed at WWE events.
