Alaric Jackson Recovers from Blood Clots and Prepares to Return

Los Angeles Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson is on track to return to practice next week, according to head coach Sean McVay. Jackson, who has been dealing with blood clots in his lower leg, has been doing individual exercises and jogging during training camp, but has not participated in team drills. The player already faced a similar situation in 2022, missing the last nine games of the season due to blood clots. McVay indicated that Jackson is expected to participate in the full work week, with practices on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, in addition to a jog on Friday.

He put in a lot of work. I think he handled it like a true professional. I am very happy for him and because everything indicates that he will be ready to play and will be able to control this.

McVay added that “a lot of work has been done behind the scenes to educate ourselves” on how to manage the medical condition and the necessary medication. In June, McVay revealed that Jackson informed the team that he “felt some things in his lower leg,” which led to a scan that revealed the problem. At that time, McVay did not provide a timeline for Jackson’s return, emphasizing the priority on a “healthy and safe recovery.” Last week, McVay commented that Jackson is in “excellent physical and mental shape” and that the team expects to have him on the field “as soon as possible.” Jackson started 14 games for the Rams during the 2024 season, after missing the first two games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. He was also inactive for the final game of the season after Los Angeles secured the NFC West title.
