CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Carolina Panthers have secured the continuity of their offensive lineman Taylor Moton, extending his contract through the 2027 season. Moton, a key player on the offensive line, has signed a two-year, $44 million deal, with $40 million guaranteed, according to sources close to the franchise. In related news, the Minnesota Vikings have shown interest in acquiring wide receiver Adam Thielen, who is in the last year of his contract. Thielen, with a past with the Vikings, arrived in Carolina in 2023. The possible arrival of Thielen in Minnesota could be a move to strengthen their receiving corps, especially with Jordan Addison suspended for three games and Jalen Nailor dealing with an injury. The situation in Carolina is also interesting, as the team has a large number of talented receivers, including Thielen, Tetairoa McMillan, and Xavier Legette. Additionally, Hunter Renfrow, former Raiders player, is looking to return to the field after missing last season due to a medical condition. Renfrow could fit into Thielen’s role. Other receivers on Carolina’s roster include Jalen Coker, David Moore, Jimmy Horn Jr., and Brycen Tremayne. Moton, selected in the second round of the draft by the Panthers in 2017, had a $31 million impact on the salary cap for this season.
Moton also expressed his deep feeling for the team and the city.Obviously I want the years to continue, but if this is my last year here, I want it to be my best year. I want it to be the best year for the offensive line, the best year for the offensive unit, the best year for the team, to do what I can. May we be our best selves, so I’m a little excited about that.
