Vince McMahon Involved in Car Accident in Connecticut

Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon faces accusations for causing an accident on a Connecticut road. The incident, which involved his Bentley and two other vehicles, occurred hours before the news of Hulk Hogan’s death was announced. McMahon was cited for reckless driving and following too closely to another vehicle. According to a state police report, the accident took place Thursday morning on the Merritt Parkway in Westport. Fortunately, there were no injuries. McMahon was released after posting a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on August 26. The incident was initially reported on Tuesday. The photographs taken by Barbara Doran, one of the people involved in the accident, revealed significant damage to the front of McMahon’s 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed. Damage was also observed on the rear of Doran’s BMW 430. The police report details that McMahon was driving north on the highway, also known as Route 15, when he rear-ended the BMW and crashed into a wooden guardrail. A vehicle traveling south hit debris from the accident that flew over the barrier. According to the police, there were no passengers in the vehicles and all three drivers were wearing seatbelts. McMahon’s car airbags deployed, while Doran’s did not.

Doran, a New York City resident, recounted that she was driving in the right lane when she was hit by McMahon. The impact caused her vehicle to go off the road.

“I was in the right lane and suddenly, boom. I was hit from behind and catapulted forward and you can see the tire marks where I was desperately trying to stay on the road,” Doran stated.

Doran added that a state police officer informed him that the other driver was McMahon, whom he did not know well. After the crash, they both talked.

“He just, you know, expressed his concern, was glad I was okay and all that. And I thanked him for his concern,” said Doran, 72.

McMahon resigned as WWE CEO in 2022 amid an internal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. Last year, he also stepped down as executive chairman of the TKO Group Holdings board of directors, WWE’s parent company, one day after a former WWE employee filed a lawsuit against him for sexual abuse. McMahon has denied these allegations. The lawsuit is still pending. In 1982, McMahon acquired what was then the World Wrestling Federation and transformed it from a regional wrestling company into a global phenomenon. In addition to running the company with his wife, Linda, who is currently the United States Secretary of Education, he also participated in WWE events as a character.
