NBC and USGA Extend Their Broadcast Agreement Through 2032
The USGA and NBCUniversal have reached an agreement that ensures coverage of the U.S. Open until the year 2032. This new agreement, announced on Tuesday, includes an additional hour of primetime coverage for the main championship during the weekdays.
NBC’s relationship with the USGA dates back to 1995, with an interruption in 2015 when Fox Sports took over the broadcast in a 12-year deal, which ended after five, returning to NBC.
NBC will remain the exclusive broadcast home of the USGA’s three professional events: the U.S. Open, the U.S. Women’s Open, and the U.S. Senior Open. In addition, Peacock will stream all USGA programming on NBC and offer exclusive coverage of the U.S. Open and the U.S. Women’s Open.
The new agreement will guarantee 48 hours of coverage of the U.S. Open, with 25 hours on NBC, and 33 hours when the U.S. Open is held on the West Coast. The U.S. Women’s Open will have 27 hours of coverage, including seven hours on NBC during the weekend. The U.S. Senior Open will have 18 hours of broadcast, six of them on NBC.
Versant, the new media company that will be spun off from Comcast Corp., acquired the broadcast rights to the USGA championships for USA Network and Golf Channel through 2032. USA Network will broadcast the U.S. Open and the U.S. Women’s Open, while the other nine USGA championships will air on Golf Channel.
