Tommy Fleetwood’s disappointment at not securing his first PGA Tour victory has been tempered by the confirmation of his place on the European Ryder Cup team. The English golfer, who led by one stroke at the start of the final round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis on Sunday, failed to maintain his lead. A bad finish prevented him from participating in the playoff by one stroke, missing the opportunity to add a PGA Tour title to his international victories. The tiebreaker was won by Justin Rose, who also secured his place at Bethpage Black, New York, for the September 26-28 showdown. “Incredible to have these two back on the team. They bring so much on and off the course. Let’s go!”, said Luke Donald, European Ryder Cup captain, on X on Monday, alongside a photo of Fleetwood and Rose. Fleetwood, who is preparing for his fourth consecutive appearance for Europe, expressed his pride on X.
