Vince McMahon Involved in Car Accident in Connecticut

Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon is at the center of controversy following a car accident on a Connecticut highway. The incident, which involved his Bentley and two other vehicles, took place last Thursday morning on the Merritt Parkway in Westport. According to the police report, McMahon was cited for reckless driving and following too closely to the vehicle in front. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the accident. McMahon was released after posting a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on August 26. The accident, which occurred hours before the news of Hulk Hogan’s death was announced, has generated great media interest. The photos taken by Barbara Doran, one of the people involved in the accident, show significant damage to the front of McMahon’s 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed. Damage is also observed on the rear of Doran’s BMW 430. The police report details that McMahon, who was driving north on the highway, rear-ended the BMW and then crashed into a wooden barrier. A vehicle traveling south struck debris from the accident that jumped over the barrier. According to the police, there were no passengers in any of the vehicles and all three drivers were wearing seatbelts. McMahon’s car airbags deployed, but not those of Doran’s BMW.
Vince McMahon's 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed sustained heavy front-end damage from last week's multi-car highway crash in Connecticut.
Doran, a New York City resident, recounted that she was driving in the right lane when she was hit by McMahon’s vehicle, causing her car to go off the road.

“I was in the right lane and suddenly, boom. I was hit from behind and catapulted forward and you can see the skid marks where I was desperately trying to stay on the road,” said Doran.

Doran explained that a state police officer informed him that the other driver was McMahon, whom he did not know well. After the accident, they both talked.

“She just, you know, expressed her concern, was glad I was okay and all that. And I thanked her for her concern,” said Doran, 72.

McMahon resigned as WWE CEO in 2022, amid a company investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. He also stepped down as executive chairman of the board of directors of TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company, last year, one day after a former WWE employee filed a sexual assault lawsuit against him. McMahon has denied the allegations. The lawsuit is still pending. McMahon bought the then World Wrestling Federation in 1982 and transformed it from a regional wrestling company into a global phenomenon. In addition to running the company with his wife, Linda, who is now the U.S. Secretary of Education, he also performed at WWE events as himself.
