Dean Burmester Crowned Champion at LIV Golf Chicago After Thrilling Playoff

In a day filled with dramatic twists, Dean Burmester clinched victory at the LIV Golf Chicago, surpassing Jon Rahm and Josele Ballester in an exciting playoff.

Burmester, who had a complicated start with three consecutive bogeys, managed to recover and finish the round with a par of 71 strokes, establishing a total of 9 under par and securing his place in the playoff.

Tension mounted as Rahm and Ballester, both with birdies on the 18th hole, forced a playoff. On the first playoff hole, the 18th, both competitors missed birdie opportunities from a distance of 12 feet.

Burmester, with a 6-foot birdie putt, sealed the victory, taking home a $4 million prize and his second LIV Golf circuit win, following his triumph in Miami last year.

In addition to the individual triumph, Burmester’s team, Stinger, defeated Torque in the team playoff, adding another achievement for the South African golfer.

Joaquin Niemann, for his part, tied for 17th place, maintaining his position ahead of Rahm in the individual points standings.
