Shane van Gisbergen Secures His Future with Trackhouse Racing
Pilot Shane van Gisbergen, after a standout rookie season that led him to the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, has signed a multi-year contract extension with Trackhouse Racing. The team’s official announcement confirms the continuation of the Auckland, New Zealand native, “for the coming years.” The specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Van Gisbergen, with wins from pole position in Mexico City, Chicago, and Sonoma Raceway, has secured fourth place in the standings for the 2025 playoffs, with three races remaining in the regular season. After conquering three championships in Australia’s Supercars series, van Gisbergen was recruited by Trackhouse two years ago as part of the Project 91 program, designed to highlight international drivers in NASCAR’s premier category. In the historic Chicago Street Race of July 2023, van Gisbergen made history by becoming the first driver to win in his Cup debut since Johnny Rutherford in 1963. Van Gisbergen joined NASCAR last year and managed to qualify for the Xfinity Series playoffs with two wins for Kaulig Racing. This year, he moved up to the Cup with Trackhouse, driving the No. 88 Chevrolet, and became the foreign-born driver with the most wins in NASCAR history. In Sunday’s race at Watkins Glen International, van Gisbergen will look to join Chase Elliott and Jeff Gordon as the only drivers with four consecutive wins on road or street courses.I feel like Trackhouse Racing is my home.

Ross Chastain, driver of the No. 1 Chevy, and van Gisbergen are under contract for 2026, but Trackhouse has not yet announced who will drive its third car, as Daniel Suárez will leave the No. 99 Chevrolet at the end of the season. Connor Zilisch, points leader in the Xfinity Series with five wins for JR Motorsports, will make his fourth Cup appearance on Sunday for Trackhouse Racing and has been mentioned as a prime candidate to take over Suárez’s seat.We are witnessing one of the superstars of motorsports. What we are asking him to do carries a high degree of difficulty. He has moved to the other side of the world, learned a new way of racing, and sometimes dominated the competition. He is one of the greatest.
