WNBA Scandal: Sex Toys Interrupt Games
An unusual incident shook the game between the Los Angeles Sparks and the Indiana Fever on Tuesday night, when an object, apparently a sex toy, was thrown from the stands and landed near player Sophie Cunningham. The incident took place at Crypto.com Arena, with 2:05 remaining in the second quarter. Cunningham, who had previously expressed his discontent on social media about the practice of throwing objects onto the court, reacted with surprise. Kelsey Plum, of the Sparks, reacted quickly by kicking the object towards the stands.Cunningham approached the Sparks’ bench, taking the incident with humor. Fever coach Stephanie White commented on the situation, emphasizing the importance of the public enjoying the game and the impossibility of controlling everyone’s actions. This incident adds to a series of similar events that have interrupted WNBA games in recent days. According to social media posts, similar incidents with thrown objects occurred in Phoenix and New York on the same Tuesday, although without reaching the court. Previously, an incident took place in Atlanta during the match between Dream and Golden State. Delbert Carver, allegedly responsible for the incident in Atlanta, was arrested on Saturday and faces charges of disorderly conduct, indecent exposure, and trespassing. A previous incident occurred in Chicago, where an object was thrown during the third quarter of the game between Golden State and Sky. An official removed the object before it was picked up. The league has stated that safety is paramount and that anyone who throws objects onto the field will be ejected and sanctioned with a minimum ban of one year, in addition to being subject to arrest and prosecution by local authorities.I think it’s ridiculous, stupid, it’s nonsense. It’s also dangerous and the safety of the players comes first. Respect the game. All those things. I think it’s really stupid.
