Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman was released from police custody on Monday afternoon and will not face criminal charges, according to public records. This comes after his arrest on Friday on a felony weapons charge. Perryman, 32, was in jail without bail since Friday night. Police arrested him for violations of the vehicle code. During a search of his vehicle, police found five firearms in his car, including two assault rifles, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Perryman was due to appear in Inglewood court on Tuesday morning, but Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hockman decided not to file criminal charges. This means that Perryman’s record will show a detention instead of a full arrest.
Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh visited Perryman in jail on Monday. Harbaugh said Perryman was in good spirits. Perryman is in his second stint with the Chargers after rejoining the team before the 2024 season. He is expected to start and play a significant role in the Chargers’ inside linebacker group.I love Denzel. He has always done the right thing. He has never had any problems. He has a beautiful family, and we will let due process take its course.
