Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-Min described his farewell on Sunday as a “perfect moment” as he ended his decade at the club.
Son, visibly emotional, starred in the 1-1 draw against Newcastle United in South Korea. He cried upon receiving a standing ovation and a guard of honor from the players of both teams, after being substituted around the hour mark in the club’s last pre-season tour match in Asia.
“It was a perfect moment,” Son told the club’s website. “Sharing these beautiful moments is something I will never forget and will always cherish, from the fans, the players, and the coach.”
“I wish them the best. There are five competitions ahead and I hope they win all five. That is my wish.
