Australia and the British and Irish Lions: A Third Test with a Taste of Revenge

The third and final Test between Australia and the British and Irish Lions, although nominally a match of procedure, promises strong emotions after the controversial end of last week’s match. Australia still laments the referee’s decision that validated Hugo Keenan’s try in the last minute. The Wallabies consider that there was an illegal action by the Lions flanker, Jac Morgan, in the previous play. Morgan appeared to hit Carlo Tizzano in the head and neck area during the ruck, but the play was reviewed by the TMO and validated.

Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt expressed his frustration at the decision, which deprived his team of the opportunity to compete for the series title.

Despite squandering an 18-point lead, Australia feels strengthened by the improvement shown at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and will seek to obtain a positive result in the series. Meanwhile, the Lions pursue greatness with the possibility of a series sweep (3-0), which would add a new triumph to their first series win in 12 years. Andy Farrell’s team could become the first Lions side to achieve a series sweep since 1974.

We have a great responsibility to make sure we finish this.

Visitors have made only two changes to their team, with Blair Kinghorn and James Ryan coming in for James Lowe and Ollie Chessum, respectively. The Wallabies will not have back-row Rob Valetini, who has been ruled out again due to a calf injury.
