Naomi Osaka and Patrick Mouratoglou: End of a brief collaboration

Tennis player Naomi Osaka and her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, have ended their working relationship after less than a year of working together. The news was announced by Osaka herself through her social media on Sunday. In her post, the four-time Grand Slam champion expressed her gratitude to Mouratoglou, sharing a photo of a training session. “Merci Patrick. It was a great experience to learn from you. I wish you all the best. You are one of the coolest people I have ever met and I’m sure I’ll see you around,” Osaka wrote. This announcement comes a few days after Osaka suffered a defeat at the DC Open and just before her participation in the Toronto tournament. The US Open, the last Grand Slam tournament of the year, and where Osaka has triumphed on two occasions, will begin on August 24 in New York. Osaka hired Mouratoglou, who previously coached Serena Williams for a long time, after firing Wim Fissette, following her elimination in the second round of last year’s US Open. Currently, Osaka, who reached number one in the world, is ranked 51st and has a record of 21-11 this season. Her last notable appearance in a Grand Slam tournament was at the 2021 Australian Open, where she won the victory.
