Denny Hamlin Secures His Future with Joe Gibbs Racing

Pilot Denny Hamlin has formalized his commitment to Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) by signing a contract extension. This agreement, which could be the last of his career, ensures his continuity with the team for several years, although the driver preferred a two-year deal to ensure he is in top form in his final stage.

Two years is what I was comfortable with. I wanted to make sure I gave them the appropriate time and commit to them not for a year, but for several years, to allow them to continue building the program. I want to make sure I’m still in my best form in my final year.

With 44 years old, Hamlin has shown to stay at the top of his performance. Currently, he has four wins this season, the most in the series, and leads the overall standings with 663 points, only behind the Hendrick Motorsports drivers. A victory in the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway would allow Hamlin to complete his collection of NASCAR “jewel” races. Hamlin, who has competed since 2005, has achieved almost everything in his career, except winning a series championship. With 706 races contested, all with JGR, he is the driver with the most time on the team. In addition to his career as a driver, Hamlin co-owns the NASCAR team 23XI Racing, along with Michael Jordan, a member of the NBA Hall of Fame. The team competes with drivers like Bubba Wallace, Riley Herbst, and Tyler Reddick. Hamlin also admitted that he is not yet ready to retire, and could consider returning to JGR in the future if he decides to return to competition. Joe Gibbs expressed his appreciation for Hamlin and his contribution to the organization, highlighting the driver’s long and successful career with the team. Hamlin’s decision is based on several factors, including his competitiveness and his desire to win his last race.
