Boxing Weekend Recap: Usyk, Pacquiao, and Rodriguez Shine

The boxing world vibrated with a weekend full of action, where comebacks, dominance, and ascents set the tone. Manny Pacquiao, Oleksandr Usyk, and Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez were the protagonists of a card that kept fans on the edge of their seats. Pacquiao, at 46 years old, showed that he still has much to offer to boxing, although the fight ended in a controversial majority draw against the WBC welterweight champion, Mario Barrios. The Filipino legend, despite his inactivity, managed to get into the top 6 of the welterweight division, while Barrios remains in third place.

Pacquiao proved he still has a lot to offer to boxing.

On Saturday, Usyk solidified his position as the number one in the heavyweight division with a knockout in the fifth round over Daniel Dubois. Usyk demonstrated his superiority, widening the gap with his competitors in the category. For his part, “Bam” Rodriguez, consolidated as unified super flyweight champion, after defeating Phumelele Cafu by technical knockout in the tenth round. At 25 years old, Rodriguez continues to demonstrate his worth, establishing himself as one of the most promising boxers. In other featured results, Sebastian Fundora forced Tim Tszyu to retire in the seventh round, retaining his super welterweight title. Fundora remains at number 3, while Tszyu drops to number 6. Brandon Figueroa dropped to number 7 in the featherweight division, despite obtaining a controversial decision victory over Joet Gonzalez. Diego Pacheco also maintains the third position in the super middleweight ranking after his decision victory over Trevor McCumby.

Below are the boxing division rankings, reflecting the best in the sport in each weight category. These rankings are subject to change based on recent results and performances.

Boxers who have announced their change of category will be classified in their new division, once they have fought in it. Champions who hold titles in two divisions may be classified in both. Boxers who have not competed in the last 12 months, and who do not have a scheduled fight, will be removed from the rankings until they fight again. Likewise, any boxer who tests positive for a performance-enhancing substance will be removed from the rankings.
