The Cincinnati Bengals’ star defensive end, Trey Hendrickson, has communicated that he will not be present at training camp this Tuesday along with the rest of the team. This absence marks a new chapter in the contract negotiations that have been going on for months between the player and the Bengals. Hendrickson, who has been seeking a long-term agreement since last year, resumed contract talks last month, generating optimism about his future with the franchise.

We are working on signing Trey at the moment. There are people in the office working to make it happen. I think it will be done.

Hendrickson, who led the NFL in sacks last season, also missed the mandatory three-day minicamp last month, which could incur fines of nearly $105,000. At 30 years old, Hendrickson is about to enter the final year of his contract. The player is seeking a long-term deal that would put him in line with other prominent NFL sack artists. In the last three seasons, Hendrickson has accumulated 43 sacks, just one less than Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns, who led the league in that period.
