Chris Paul Returns to the Clippers for His Final Season

The legendary point guard Chris Paul has reached an agreement with the Los Angeles Clippers for what is expected to be his twenty-first and final season in the NBA. The news was confirmed by his representatives, Steven Heumann, Ty Sullivan, and Jessica Holtz. At 40 years old, Paul had several options, but he chose to return to the Clippers, the team with which he has a shared history in Los Angeles.

This addition makes Paul the most recent veteran to join the Clippers, who have also incorporated Bradley Beal, John Collins, and Brook Lopez during this offseason. In addition, the team has worked on its salary flexibility to have opportunities to sign stars in the next two summers.

Chris Paul is returning to the Clippers for his expected 21st and final season. He previously played for the franchise for six seasons (2011-12 to 2016-17).
This return marks Paul’s return to the Clippers, where he played for six seasons (2011-12 to 2016-17), being selected five times for the All-Star. During his time on the team, he was included on five All-NBA teams, the most in franchise history. In addition, he accumulated 4,023 assists with the Clippers, also the most in team history. Last season, Paul played with the San Antonio Spurs and played in all 82 games, becoming the first player to play every game of a season in his twentieth season or later. Paul, selected fourth overall by the New Orleans Hornets in 2005 and NBA Rookie of the Year that season, has accumulated 12,499 assists and 2,717 steals in his career, ranking second all-time in both categories.
