Team Liga Pichulo and Team División Atlántica are crowned champions in the DPK Interleague Tournament
Young talent shone brightly on the fields of the La Javilla Academy, where the champions of the infant and pre-infant categories were decided in the Dominican Prospect Kids (DPK) Interleague Winter Baseball Tournament. In a day filled with emotions, Team Liga Pichulo and Team División Atlántica hoisted the trophies after demonstrating their superiority on the diamond.
Atlantic Division dominates the Infantil A category
In the final corresponding to the 11 and 12-year-old category, the Atlantic Division Team prevailed with authority over the Cornielle League Team, sealing an 8-3 victory. The standout figure of the match was Chandel Cruz, who claimed the win from the mound by pitching five and one-third innings, allowing only three runs and striking out six opponents.
On the offensive side, Cruz himself led the attack by going 2-for-2, while Andri Medina was instrumental in driving in two decisive runs. For the defeated side, the efforts of Alberni Rosario and Luis Torres stood out, although they were not enough to stop the advance of the new champions.
Pichulo League prevails in the Pre-infant category
For its part, at the pre-infant level (9 and 10 years old), Team Liga Pichulo demonstrated its hierarchy by defeating Team División Norte 9-2 at the Juan J. Carmona stadium. Yadier Hidalgo had a stellar performance as a pitcher, completing five and two-thirds innings with a dominant effort that included six strikeouts.
- Batting leaders: Jeison Cordero was key to the victory with two RBIs, followed by Julián Montaño, who contributed a double and two RBIs.
- Rival performance: Despite the loss, Team División Norte managed to connect five hits, with notable performances from Ángel Hernández and Wilkin Valdez.
The successful culmination of these finals reaffirms the commitment of the La Javilla Academy to the development of youth baseball in the Dominican Republic, providing a high-level stage for the future stars of the sport.
The competitive activity of the DPK Interleague Winter Baseball Tournament remains on course and will continue this Wednesday with new matchups at the La Javilla Academy facilities.
