Pending duel: Estrellas Orientales and Águilas Cibaeñas face off in Santiago

The 2026-2027 autumn-winter baseball tournament resumes this Monday one of its pending matters. The Estrellas Orientales travel to Estadio Cibao to complete the game that was interrupted by rain last Wednesday, in a matchup that promises intensity from the very first pitch.

The action is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM. The Estrellas arrive at this matchup occupying the top spot in the standings, boasting a record of five wins and two losses. The San Pedro de Macorís team is going through an exceptional offensive moment, accumulating three consecutive victories and having displayed a devastating attack in their recent clashes against the Gigantes del Cibao, where they produced 24 runs and 24 hits.

Players on a streak and the return of Esmil Rogers

The green team has featured outstanding power production from Raimel Tapia, who has been key with his home runs, including a grand slam. Joining him are the power contributions of Panamanian Leo Bernal and Cuban César Prieto, who have been fundamental in maintaining the league lead, sitting half a game ahead of the Tigres del Licey.

For this restart, veteran Esmil Rogers will take the mound again for the Orientales. Rogers was in charge of starting the duel last Wednesday, managing to retire a scoreless inning before the rainfall forced the umpires to stop the action in the bottom of the second inning with the score tied at zero.

The game will resume under the guidelines of the LIDOM regulations, maintaining the exact conditions in which it was stopped, allowing both organizations the flexibility to integrate two new players into their respective rosters for this commitment.

Despite the efforts of the Cibao Stadium staff to recover the playing field during the original day, weather conditions prevented the continuation of the match, which will now be resumed with the goal of defining the winner of this important regular season clash.
