COD celebrates Eucharist for Dominican delegation heading to Junior Pan American Games

The Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) is preparing for a significant event this Friday, a Eucharist in honor of the delegation that will represent the country in the II Junior Pan American Games. This act will also commemorate the anniversary of the death of prominent sports leaders. The religious ceremony will take place in the Juan Ulises García Saleta (Wiche) hall of the COD, starting at 11:00 in the morning. The main objective is to bless the Dominican athletes before their departure to the multi-sport competition. In addition to the blessing of the athletes, the mass will remember two important figures in Dominican sports. The second anniversary of the death of Professor Luis Elpidio Cumba, which occurred on July 5, 2023, and the sixth year of the death of Professor Nelly Manuel Doñé, which is on the 29th of this month, will be commemorated. Garibaldy Bautista, president of the COD, and Luis Chanlatte, general secretary, were in charge of announcing this information. The Olympic organization has extended the invitation to federated members, athletes, sports officials, and personalities related to the sports movement. A prominent participation of the Dominican delegation in the games is expected. The religious ceremony will be in charge of Father Candelario Mejía. The II Junior Pan American Games will be held in Asunción, Paraguay, from August 9 to 23 of this year.
