Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark was listed as questionable due to a right groin injury, according to the team’s injury report ahead of Wednesday night’s matchup against the New York Liberty in Brooklyn. Clark suffered the injury in the last minute of Tuesday night’s victory against the Connecticut Sun, with a score of 85-77 at the TD Garden in Boston. Fever coach Stephanie White informed reporters that Clark “felt something in her groin” and would be evaluated. After completing a bounce pass to teammate Kelsey Mitchell with about 40 seconds remaining, Clark grabbed the inside of her right thigh before walking and hitting her head against the post, seemingly frustrated. She was visibly emotional as she headed to the Fever bench and placed a towel over her head.

I think we’ll take it one step at a time.

Stephanie White, Fever coach, on the possibility of playing without Clark against New York.
White also added that they would evaluate the situation and talk about it in the morning. He stressed that the team has already played without Clark, so they have experience in it. Before this season, Clark had never missed a game in his college or professional career, but he has already been out for nine regular season games (10 including the Commissioner’s Cup final) with health problems this summer, including two previous injuries to his left quadriceps and another to his left groin. Indiana is 8-5 with Clark this season and 4-5 without her. The 2024 first-team All-WNBA selection is averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds this season. On Tuesday, Clark was announced as a participant in Friday’s three-point contest, and had previously been announced as a starter and captain for Saturday’s All-Star Game in Indianapolis. Her status for those festivities is unclear.
