Tension in the ADP of Peralvillo: teacher questions management and demands transparency
The municipality of Peralvillo, in the province of Monte Plata, is experiencing moments of union uncertainty. Teacher Basilio Bertrán has raised his voice to question the current administration of the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) in this district, pointing directly at the president of the local branch, Hamilton Gregorio Pérez, for his alleged authoritarian management and lack of transparency in the handling of institutional funds.
The differences became evident after the recent Teachers’ Assembly held last Friday, September 18. According to Bertrán, the meeting was marked by a hostile environment, where educators who dared to dissent from the official line were the target of disqualifications and offensive epithets by the board.
Dispute over the protest plan and its educational impact
The conflict is intensifying due to a struggle plan approved by the ADP in Peralvillo, which includes drastic measures that, according to Bertrán, directly harm the student community. Among the scheduled actions are:
- Reduction of the school day: students will only receive instruction until after lunch on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
- Work-to-rule strike on Fridays.
- Candlelight vigil scheduled for Monday, September 28th, at the Peralvillo Roundabout.
- Total rejection of supervisory visits from district, regional, and national technicians.
For the teacher, these pressure tactics affect the quality of teaching and learning, compromising the academic future of students in the area.
Accountability requirements
Beyond the protests, Bertrán is demanding an internal audit and clear explanations regarding the destination of the resources received by the branch. The educator questioned the financial transparency and pointed out specific issues that are causing concern among the union:
- The lack of participation of a large part of the board (11 members) in important decisions.
- The continuous payment for the rent of a premises that, supposedly, does not provide any service.
- The inaction of the board regarding the irregularities perceived during the teacher performance evaluation process.
Teachers have to know when they are being used as cannon fodder, when they are being lied to, and when what they are being told corresponds to reality.

So far, Hamilton Gregorio Pérez has not issued a public response to these serious accusations. The educational community of Peralvillo remains waiting for a statement that clarifies the situation and restores tranquility to the teaching sector.
