A’ja Wilson returns strongly after injury and leads the Aces

WNBA star A’ja Wilson proved her worth by returning from a wrist injury, scoring 34 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. The Las Vegas Aces secured a close victory over the Golden State Valkyries with a score of 104-102. This victory marks the first time this season that the Aces have surpassed 100 points. Wilson suffered the injury to her right wrist during the game against New York on Tuesday, which forced her to leave the game. Wilson’s absence was felt in Thursday’s loss against Washington, where the Aces fell 70-68.

It’s very difficult for me not to play. It’s very difficult for me to follow instructions sometimes because I want to be there with my team. I’m going to keep playing because they’ll make sure I’m ready and comfortable.

Wilson expressed his determination to return to the court against Golden State, a team that had defeated the Aces by a wide margin in their previous encounter. Wilson praised the Aces’ medical staff for their help in his rapid recovery. In addition to the wrist injury, Wilson also missed three games due to concussion protocol earlier this year.

It’s been tough for me this year, because it’s probably the most I’ve been injured in my entire career. So it’s been a new space for me, but it’s also allowed me to get into myself and see the game with a different perspective.

Despite being left-handed, Wilson was relieved that the injury was to her right wrist. She showed no problems with her shot, with an impressive 12 of 16 from the field and 9 of 12 from the free throw line. Wilson focused on leading the Aces in rebounds, after identifying this aspect as a weakness in the game against Washington. She also contributed 4 assists and 2 blocks. Jackie Young also had an outstanding performance with 30 points, going 9 of 14 from the field and a perfect 11 of 11 from the line. The Aces, who have had an irregular season, now have a record of 10-11. Las Vegas has one game left, on Wednesday in Dallas, before the All-Star break. Wilson and Young have been selected for the All-Star game.

We know what happened the last time we played against the Valkyries there. We just wanted to come out today and get the job done. A’ja gave us a great start and really kept it up throughout the game.
