Gente Brava Foundation presents its 2026 Season of Encounters: Culture and technology in Santo Domingo
The Gente Brava Foundation, recognized for its work in documenting contemporary Dominican and Caribbean culture, has officially announced its 2026 Season of Encounters. This series of free events seeks to analyze who the protagonists currently producing culture in the country are, integrating disciplines such as literature, music, and technological innovation.
With a track record that supports more than 50 interviews and hundreds of hours of specialized content, the organization is committed to three in-person meetings that promise to connect with the local public through dynamic and reflective formats.
Event agenda: Literature, music and innovation
- Verse and prose: who is writing the island today: September 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Cuesta Libros. A space for dialogue with prominent figures such as Minerva del Risco, Miguel Yarull, and Arlene Sabaris, moderated by Pedro J. Castellanos.
- You’re not leaving without me giving you something: November 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Swing Records. An experience that fuses the legacy of the podcast with a vinyl curation by the artist Poteleche.
- AI tools for cultural archives: A practical workshop in partnership with INTEC that will address the importance of artificial intelligence in the preservation of cultural memory. Date and time details will be announced soon.
Each of these encounters documents something that, if we don’t record it now, could be lost: a literary conversation, a musical archive, or the criteria for using new tools without losing the essence of our work.
