Athletics Roster Moves: Spence to Triple-A, Bido Returns

The Athletics have made significant moves in their roster. Right-handed pitcher Mitch Spence was sent to Triple-A Las Vegas this Thursday, following a complicated performance in the game against the Atlanta Braves. In response to this decision, the Athletics called up right-handed pitcher Osvaldo Bido from the same affiliate. The starting shortstop and American League All-Star, Jacob Wilson, was not in the starting lineup against Atlanta for the second consecutive night due to a contusion on his left hand. Wilson was hit by a pitch from rookie pitcher Didier Fuentes in Tuesday’s victory over the Braves. The Athletics manager, Mark Kotsay, revealed that his Atlanta counterpart, Brian Snitker, apologized after Tuesday’s game for the hit on Wilson. The Braves sent 20-year-old Fuentes to Triple-A Gwinnett immediately after that game. Wilson, who is a rookie, excels with a batting average of .335, ranking second in the Major Leagues. Spence, 27, had a difficult outing on Wednesday, allowing eight runs and nine hits in six innings. On the season, his record is 2-5 with an ERA of 4.70 in 29 appearances, including seven starts. Bido, 29 years old, has a 2-4 record with a 6.14 ERA in 12 appearances, nine of them as a starter, for the Athletics this season.
