Bianca Acosta receives recognition in the National Congress after her sporting success
The outstanding Dominican athlete Bianca Acosta, recent gold medalist in the women’s 4×400 meter relay, was received this Tuesday at the National Congress by deputy Jorge Cavoli. The legislator, representing the María Trinidad Sánchez province, praised the career of the sprinter, who has demonstrated exemplary discipline in her professional career.
Acosta, born in the community of Matapuerco in Río San Juan, lived much of her youth in Spain, where she began her athletic training. However, her determination to represent her homeland led her to make the decision to return to the Dominican Republic to fully join the national team.
A commitment to the tricolor flag
During the meeting, Deputy Cavoli stressed that Acosta’s story of overcoming adversity is an example for the youth. The legislator emphasized that the athlete’s achievements are the result of her own effort and perseverance, making her a source of pride for the entire country.
My pride is my island, my country. I left my life there to come to Santo Domingo with nothing, without having a house to live in, just to train with a Dominican coach.

Bianca Acosta was a fundamental part of the quartet that reached the gold medal in the 4×400 meters with a time of 3:28.48, sharing success with her teammates Anabel Medina, Milagros Durán, and Estrella De Aza. After this important triumph, the athlete is already planning her next sporting challenges:
- Focus their preparation for the 2027 Pan American Games.
- Work with determination to qualify and represent the country in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
