Police operations in La Vega result in the seizure of slot machines and drugs

The National Police, through the efforts of the Regional Intelligence Sub-directorate (DINTEL) in La Vega, carried out a series of strategic operations in various parts of the municipality with the aim of strengthening citizen security and combating illicit activities.

Actions against illegal gambling

During the interventions carried out in the Las Carmelitas sector and Alfredo Peralta Michel Avenue, the authorities seized various slot machines. These devices were operating outside the law, contravening current regulations, specifically Law 29-06, which amends Law 351-64, and the provisions of Law 139-11 on Tax Revenues.

Blow to micro-trafficking in El Riito

In a parallel action carried out in the El Riito sector, DINTEL agents dismantled an alleged distribution center for controlled substances. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, the individuals present at the scene fled, leaving behind a package that contained:

  • 47 portions of a vegetable, presumably marijuana.
  • 83 portions of a rocky material, possibly crack.
  • A digital scale, cash, and a communication radio with their respective chargers.

The authorities maintain their commitment to the security of La Vega, executing focused and preventive operations to dismantle illicit substance sales points and eradicate illegal practices in the community.

As a result of these operations, three people were taken into custody for investigation and screening purposes. Both the seized substances and the confiscated items were handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the corresponding legal procedure.
