Dominican tourism boosts the national economy with purchases exceeding RD$220 billion
The impact of the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic is consolidating as a cross-cutting engine for the national economy. According to data revealed by the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores), the industry generated a total of RD$220,000 million in purchases of local goods and services during the year 2025, evidencing a deep connection with various productive sectors of the country.
This positive balance was presented during the inauguration of the XXXVIII Asonahores Commercial Expo 2026, held at BlueMall Punta Cana. The event brings together more than 300 companies and suppliers, positioning itself as the most relevant business platform for the tourism value chain, where sectors such as agriculture, construction, technology, and finance converge.
The success of Dominican tourism cannot be measured solely by the number of visitors we receive, but also by how much of that growth remains in our economy, generates jobs, and creates opportunities for our producers and businesses.

A daily flow that energizes the market
Juan Bancalari, president of Asonahores, highlighted the magnitude of the productive linkages generated by tourism. According to the reported figures, in July 2025 alone, purchases from national suppliers reached RD$11.59 billion, which translates to a daily movement of more than RD$374 million.
Bancalari emphasized that these resources are not limited to the hotel environment, but permeate into the countryside, the manufacturing industry, transportation, and technological services, strengthening the Dominican business fabric. The association’s main objective remains to close the gap between tourism demand and local supply, encouraging greater integration of national products.

Four decades of commercial evolution
For her part, Aguie Lendor, executive vice president of Asonahores, highlighted the trajectory of this fair, which has served as a thermometer for tourism growth for almost 40 years. “Thirty-eight editions of the Asonahores Trade Fair, with completely full spaces and the sustained confidence of the business sector, speak to a consolidated platform,” affirmed Lendor.
For three days, the event serves as a strategic meeting point to strengthen alliances and explore new integration opportunities, supported by the main banking entities, government institutions, and leading companies in the country’s industrial and service sectors.
