Open Sky: A crowd joins in prayer and worship in Santo Domingo
The Loyola School Sports Center became the epicenter of faith in the Dominican capital, welcoming more than 3,000 people during the fourth edition of the Cielo Abierto mission. This massive gathering brought together young people, families, and the faithful from various communities across the country for a day filled with spirituality, music, and Eucharistic adoration.
The event marked the closing of an intense week of evangelization that traveled through multiple parishes in Santo Domingo. The mission, which has as its central axis the encounter with Jesus Christ through the Blessed Sacrament, managed to consolidate a space of deep reflection for all attendees.
Intentions and unity in prayer
During the evening, community prayer was the main element. The faithful raised petitions for various social and personal causes, highlighting among them:
- The recovery of those affected by the earthquake in Venezuela.
- The strengthening of the life and mission of priests in their pastoral work.
- Family unity and the healing of the sick.
More than a concert, the gathering became a space for community prayer and the strengthening of faith, with a message focused on hope, family, and closeness to Jesus Christ.
An international movement with a Dominican stamp
Cielo Abierto is an international initiative born in Mexico more than a decade and a half ago, which is currently expanding its message of faith throughout the continent. In this fourth installment in the Dominican Republic, music was the main vehicle to connect with the hearts of those present.
The artistic talent was led by the mission’s founders, Cristal and Pedro González, along with René Francisco (Mexico), the couple Itala Rodríguez and Juanjo Cabrera (Peru), and local representatives Celinés Díaz and Eduard Muñoz. Together, they created an atmosphere of praise that reaffirmed the mission’s commitment to promoting fraternity and closeness to God in today’s society.
