Start of the 2026-2027 school year: Educational centers report positive attendance in Greater Santo Domingo
The Dominican educational system began the 2026-2027 school year this Monday with an encouraging outlook. According to reports from school principals in Greater Santo Domingo, student attendance during the first day exceeded the figures recorded at the start of the previous period, marking a positive beginning for the academic calendar.
Enthusiasm and normality in the classrooms
At the Juventud en Desarrollo Primary School, located in the Cristo Rey sector, principal Luz Benecia Muñoz described the day as quite satisfactory. Muñoz highlighted the enthusiasm and joy with which the students returned to their academic duties, allowing activities to begin with total normality from the early hours.

The figures at this center reflect a remarkable commitment: in the morning session, the attendance of 188 students out of 246 enrolled was reported, while in the afternoon session, 138 out of the 143 registered attended. The administration is confident that, as the week progresses, attendance will reach almost one hundred percent.
Improvement in student integration
Aruba Primary School, also located in Cristo Rey, presented a similar scenario of improvement. Its principal, Anselma Carrasco, reported that 307 students attended out of a total enrollment of 756. Although the figure represents less than half of the student body, Carrasco emphasized that the number was higher than that recorded at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year.
- Active services: Both centers confirmed that school meal services, including breakfast and lunch, are operational from the first day.
- Call to parents: Educational authorities urge guardians to send children from the beginning, debunking the belief that academic content is not taught during the first week.

The teaching staff of schools in Greater Santo Domingo remains optimistic and expects that the integration of the students who have yet to join will be completed over the coming days, thus consolidating a productive school cycle for the entire educational community.
