“We are excited about Gabriel’s addition to our men’s first team technical staff, and we welcome him and his family to Arsenal,” Arsenal stated in a statement.

Recently, Heinze served as head coach of Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina, after an unsuccessful stint at the helm of Atlanta United of the MLS. He has also been head coach of Vélez Sarsfield, Argentinos Juniors and Godoy Cruz. The 47-year-old former footballer played three years in England with Manchester United, where he won the Premier League title in the 2006-07 season. In addition to playing 72 matches with the Argentine national team, Heinze also represented clubs such as Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille.
