Cheryl Reeve and Sandy Brondello to Coach WNBA All-Star Game

Coaches Cheryl Reeve of the Minnesota Lynx and Sandy Brondello of the New York Liberty have been selected as the head coaches for the WNBA All-Star Game.

At the end of Thursday’s games, the Minnesota (15-2) and New York (12-5) teams led the league, which earned their coaches the honor of directing the All-Star game.

The particularity lies in the assignment of the teams to the coaches.

Caitlin Clark, guard for the Indiana Fever, and Napheesa Collier, power forward for the Lynx, were named captains of the team after finishing first and second, respectively, in the fan voting for the All-Star.

Because the coach with the best record was paired with the player with the most fan votes, Reeve will coach Team Clark and face Collier, a key player on her dominant Minnesota team.

Reeve and Brondello are familiar with each other. The Lynx defeated the Liberty in the 2024 WNBA Commissioner’s Cup, but New York got their revenge by beating Minnesota in the WNBA Finals.

In the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game, Reeve coached a U.S. team preparing for the Paris Olympics. Clark, who was not included on that U.S. team amid her first professional season, guided Team WNBA to a 117-109 victory over Team USA.

The WNBA All-Star Game is scheduled for July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
