Immediate actions in Samaná: Educational District 14-04 and INAPA intervene in the sanitary system in María Luisa
The Samaná Educational District 14-04 has taken action after complications were reported in the sanitation system of the María Luisa community. The situation, which directly affects the surroundings of two educational centers and an INAIPI facility, has mobilized local authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of the student community.
By precise instructions from the district director, Alberta Lucía Calcaño Maldonado, an urgent coordination was managed with the National Institute of Potable Water and Sewerage (INAPA). The main objective is to offer an effective technical solution that allows for restoring normality in the shortest time possible.
Effective response from INAPA
The response from the INAPA provincial management was immediate. Miguel Leonardo Moya, provincial director of the institution, confirmed that the necessary resources are already in the area. The sewage suction truck is currently at the local treatment plant, ready to begin cleaning and maintenance work.
The technical team will travel early this Tuesday to the María Luisa community to carry out the necessary corrective work and normalize the area’s sanitation system.

Factors that aggravate the situation
Following the inspections carried out in the area, the authorities detected that the problem is not only technical, but also stems from the accumulation of solid waste. Among the findings in the sanitary sewer, the following elements were identified:
- Stones and debris.
- Wood fragments and sticks.
- Cleaning utensils such as brooms.
These objects, by obstructing the natural flow of water, cause blockages and overflows in the sewage network. For this reason, both Educational District 14-04 and INAPA have called on the community to collaborate in the maintenance of public infrastructure, avoiding the disposal of waste that compromises collective health.
The district management has expressed its gratitude to INAPA for the prompt deployment of its teams, reaffirming the commitment of both entities to ensure that students, teachers, and administrative staff have a dignified, safe, and sanitary risk-free school environment.
