Colombian government tightens measures against insecurity and irregular migration in Barranquilla
In a recent security council session held in the city of Barranquilla, the central government has announced a series of forceful measures aimed at strengthening citizen security and combating organized crime. The strategy, led by the Executive branch, focuses on the identification of foreigners who break the law or who are in an irregular migratory situation within the national territory.
The action plan contemplates coordinated operations between Migration Colombia and the National Police, with the objective of detecting foreign individuals involved in criminal activities, who will face immediate deportation processes. The administration has been emphatic that remaining in the country is conditioned upon absolute respect for legal norms.
I am not going to accept illegal migrants from wherever they come from who are committing crimes in Colombia. They leave and we deport them.
Comprehensive crime strategy
In addition to immigration controls, the Government has ordered the implementation of a reward system and the activation of informant networks to obtain precise information about criminal groups. These actions seek to dismantle criminal structures and improve the state’s response capacity against various armed organizations, which, according to what was stated by the Executive, must be treated under a unified framework for the fight against terrorism.
