Clarke Schmidt Leaves Game with Arm Discomfort

TORONTO – New York Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt had to leave his start Thursday night against Toronto after three innings due to right forearm discomfort.

Schmidt allowed three runs and four hits, including a home run, before leaving the game. In addition, he gave up two walks and struck out one batter. In total, Schmidt threw 55 pitches, of which 31 were strikes.

So far this season, Schmidt has a 4-4 record with a 3.32 ERA in 14 starts.

On June 21, Schmidt also had to leave a game against Baltimore after throwing 103 pitches, his personal record, in seven hitless innings, which was part of a streak of 28 1/3 scoreless innings.

Clayton Beeter, right-handed pitcher, replaced Schmidt at the start of the fourth inning.
