Caitlin Clark will miss her fourth consecutive game due to injury

The Indiana Fever star, Caitlin Clark, will not participate in her fourth consecutive game due to a left groin injury. The team confirmed her absence for Thursday’s matchup against the Las Vegas Aces. Before this year, Clark had never missed a game in his professional or college career. Now, he will miss his eighth regular season game (ninth overall) due to an injury. Previously, he was out for five games due to a left quadriceps strain. Clark also missed the Fever’s 74-59 victory over the Minnesota Lynx in Tuesday’s Commissioner’s Cup final (the game does not count towards league standings).

My goal has always been the same. I don’t want this to be something that lasts, that we come back too soon. We want to make sure she’s 100% ready and that we put her long-term health and well-being first.

Stephanie White, Fever coach
Clark was listed as questionable for Tuesday’s game but was ruled out a few hours before tipoff. On Monday, White said Clark was doing non-contact work in practice. The 6-foot guard is averaging 18.2 points, 8.9 assists and 5.0 rebounds in nine games this season, shooting 39.0% from the field and 29.5% from 3-point range, and was recently named an All-Star starter and captain after receiving the most fan votes.

She wants to play and is working to play and has been working to play. And I think after a few days, it’s like, ‘OK, we have a little time’ – I think it’s five games before the All-Star break – so we’re going to calm her down even though she’s restless and we’re going to do it the right way and make sure we’re ready to play and at 100% when she returns.

Indiana (8-8) begins a five-game home series on Thursday, next playing against the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday and then against the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday.
