Aaron Judge resumes training and makes progress in his recovery with the Yankees

New York Yankees captain and star outfielder, Aaron Judge, has taken a significant step in his rehabilitation process. For the first time since late May, the player has returned to tee work, a positive sign on his path back to the diamond.

The organization’s manager, Aaron Boone, confirmed that the slugger has been working on this aspect for the last two days, showing favorable progress in his physical condition.

Injury details and progress

Judge remains out of action due to a stress fracture in his first right rib. It is estimated that the injury occurred on April 26th in a game against Houston, when the player attempted to make a diving catch. Despite the discomfort, Judge remained active for more than a month before being officially placed on the injured list at the end of May.

In addition to resuming swings, the coaching staff has authorized the three-time American League Most Valuable Player to perform the following activities:

  • Arm-loosening exercises to maintain muscle tone.
  • Outdoor running sessions.
  • Resistance training focused on the upper body.

Although the Yankees have not set a specific date for his return, the team remains optimistic about having their captain back during the current season, although his return before September seems unlikely under current conditions.

Impact on the New York offense

Before entering the injured list, Aaron Judge was recording consistent numbers that demonstrate his importance in the New York lineup. In 59 games played, the outfielder maintained a .248 batting average, with a .375 on-base percentage and a .533 slugging percentage. Likewise, he accumulated 17 home runs and 38 runs batted in, figures that the team seeks to recover for the final part of the campaign.
