Paige Bueckers and Nneka Ogwumike lead the list of players selected for the WNBA All-Star Game, according to the league’s announcement this Monday. Bueckers, who was the first overall draft pick, will make his All-Star Game debut. Ogwumike, for her part, adds her tenth appearance, consolidating her career in the league.
New Stars and Featured Veterans
The list of headliners includes Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier, who were previously announced as captains. Bueckers becomes the tenth rookie to start in the game, marking the third consecutive season with a rookie in the starting lineup. Bueckers has proven her worth this season, ranking 11th in scoring (18.4 points) and sixth in assists (5.8), leading the rookies in both categories. In addition, she received the sixth-highest number of fan votes. Ogwumike, with her ten selections, joins a select group of players with the most appearances in the All-Star Game. Only Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi surpass her number of participations. The captains, Clark and Collier, will select their teams by choosing from the remaining starters and the 12 reserves chosen by the coaches. The reserves will be announced this weekend.
